We’re excited and proud to announce we have changed our brand name and identity from St John Cymru to St John Ambulance Cymru as of today, 2nd April 2020.
Our charity’s new name and logo have been designed to represent our continued commitment to providing lifesaving first aid and care in communities across Wales.
After our centenary celebrations and as our services continued to develop, it become increasingly clear we had a decision to make. After careful consideration and consultation with our people and our board of Trustees we decided that refreshing our brand was one of the best ways to ensure we continue to be there for the next 100 years.
We had originally planned for a launch campaign later this year to help raise awareness of our new identity. However, the impact Covid-19 is having made us stop and think.
So, we have taken the decision to scale back our planned campaign activity and instead save money and resources to refocus our efforts on what’s important now; supporting people at the heart of Welsh communities.
And that is exactly what we’re doing.
For us, nothing has really changed, our staff and volunteers continue to work day and night to support those in need. As the Covid-19 crisis develops, our teams are also providing increased ambulance support to our NHS at this critical time.
Today, we start our journey as St John Ambulance Cymru.
Firstly, we’re launching our new name on our digital channels with our new logo then taking centre stage. Shortly you will see it rolled out across our websites, buildings and ambulances.
“St John Cymru has an incredible heritage and it’s something we’re all incredibly proud of.
After our centenary celebrations, it was clear we needed to ensure that we continue to be there for people across Wales and ensure that we remain relevant for generations to come.
By introducing the word ‘ambulance’ and giving us a more descriptive name, we hope it will help people understand how we can be there for them.”
