Radyr and Morganstown Association pledges to support the first aid charity for Wales

The Radyr and Morganstown Association has officially named St John Ambulance Cymru as its charity of the year for 2025.

The Radyr and Morganstown Association, also known as the RMA, is a small community-led organisation in North West Cardiff, which runs events for local people throughout the year.

These events bring the community together, and each year the RMA supports a charity by raising awareness and funds including donating event proceeds to a chosen charity.

St John Ambulance Cymru has a well-known presence in the Radyr and Morganstown area, supporting the community by providing first aid cover at key events and running free first aid demonstrations for local groups.

The RMA’s generous support will help to fund St John Ambulance Cymru’s lifesaving work in Cardiff and beyond, providing first aid training, transport and treatment to those in need.

The RMA was established in 1987 and aim to make the local area a great place to live and work, through organising community events such as the iconic Radyr and Morganstown Festival for two weeks each May, Remembrance Sunday Parade and festive evenings including Christmas Light Switch-Ons.

James Cordell, Partnership and Relationship Manager at St John Ambulance Cymru, said:

"We are thrilled to be the RMA’s official charity of the year for 2025. The RMA’s events are all about bringing people together and celebrating community, something we are also passionate about here at St John Ambulance Cymru.

“A huge thank you to everyone at the RMA for choosing to support us, allowing our people to continue their work saving lives and making communities in Wales safer for all.”

David Silver, Festival Committee Chair at the RMA also commented:

“We look forward to supporting St John Ambulance Cymru as our chosen charity for events throughout 2025. Volunteers from St John Ambulance Cymru are a key part of being able to safely run our community events each year.

“Community learning events are already being planned, as well as our regular pattern of events bringing the community together to have fun whilst raising money for such a good cause.”

St John Ambulance Cymru provides essential support to the people of Wales, providing vital first aid cover at events, responding to emergencies in the community and running free first aid demonstrations in schools and community groups across the country. With the help of supporters like the RMA, the charity can continue to save lives across Wales.

“Diolch yn fawr iawn i bawb yn yr RMA am ddewis i gefnogi ni, gan ganiatáu i’n pobl barhau â’u gwaith i achub bywydau a gwneud cymunedau yng Nghymru yn fwy diogel i bawb.”
